Inspiring excellence; everyone, everyday

Governing Body

The governing body has a vital role to play at Great Denham Primary School in making sure every child gets the best possible education in a safe environment. The key roles of the governors are:

  • ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, the performance management of staff and
  • overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

Our role is not to be involved in the day to day teaching and support of the children, it is our job to provide support and to challenge the Headteacher and senior leaders in the school through regular meetings and by arranging visits to the school.

The governing body is made up of local people with a variety of skills and knowledge including teachers, non-teaching staff, parents and representatives from Bedford Borough Council and the local community.  We regularly review the composition of the governing body to ensure we have the right mix and balance of knowledge, skills and experience to support the school to continually improve.
If you would like more information about the governing body please contact me.

Our Clerk to the Governors is, Anna O'Meara.  If you require any information please contact myself or Anna on anna.omeara@gdps.uk

I look forward to meeting you!
